Access Requirements

The Master is aimed at Graduates, Higher Engineers, Technical Engineers, graduates with a degree (equivalent to 240 ECTS) in knowledge areas related to the Master. Accreditation of basic knowledge in Electronics; Circuit Theory, Signals and Systems; Electromagnetism; Computer Science; Software and Simulation Tools will be required. Advanced knowledge in the previous points will be positively valued. If the accreditation of the suitability to the Master's profile is doubtful, final admission will depend on a virtual interview with the candidate. The student must have access to or possess the IT and telematics resources that enable teaching in a virtual environment.

Objectives

The Master in Microelectronics aims to educate professionals with scientific, technological, and socio-economic training in the field of Micro-Nano electronics and Micro-Nano electronic systems, both in their own development and in the design and integration into applications that demand them.

The Master seeks to provide students with a modern, updated, and useful vision of Micro and Nanoelectronic Science and Technology. The primary objective is to train students so that they can successfully enter the labor market as well as achieve high scientific-technical qualifications at a teaching or research level, whether in the public or private sector. In particular, it aims to train the student in the discipline of conceiving, designing, verifying, manufacturing, and testing integrated circuits and systems, especially in sub-micrometric technologies. Additionally, it aims to promote high-level scientific-technological training using distance learning (e-learning).

Competences

It is intended that students acquire skills in each and every one of the profiles mentioned below:

  • Methodologies, techniques, procedures, and CAD tools for micro and nanoelectronic design.
  • Micro and nanoelectronic technologies and devices.
  • Design, integration, and testing of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and radio frequency (AMS/RF) integrated circuits and systems.
  • Techniques for conceiving and evaluating integrated systems and their applications.
  • Project management in the semiconductor industry.

The specific competences that the graduate will acquire are the following:

  1. Ability to analyze complex electronic circuits, explore alternative approaches, and decide on optimal solutions in terms of cost, size, power consumption, performance, etc.
  2. Learn to design complex electronic systems that may include sensors, interfaces, digital processing circuits, actuators, communication interfaces, memories, etc.
  3. Handle Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, becoming aware of the limitations and implications of micro/nanoelectronic design methodologies.
  4. Know advanced trends in electronic circuits and systems, micro and nanometric devices, and technologies.
  5. Acquire specific knowledge in areas of great interest such as wireless communications, sensory signal sensing and processing, or advanced design and test techniques.
