Internships in Companies and Institutions

The Master includes an elective internship subject in Companies and/or Research Centers of 6 ECTS credits. Carrying out these internships is strictly in-person. It must also be taken into account that internships cannot be carried out in companies or centers where the student is already working.

Agreements with the University

In order to carry out curricular internships in a company or research center, there must be a student internship agreement between said entity and the University of Seville.

  • You can check the list of companies and centers with an active agreement at the following link: List of companies with US agreement.
  • In case there is no such agreement with the company of your interest, the signing of a new agreement can be requested. It is advisable to initiate this process well in advance, as bureaucratic procedures often take several weeks.

Search and Selection of Internships

For the search and selection of Company Internships, there are three possibilities:

  1. Search for a possible Company Internship offer for the Master in Microelectronics in the ICARO application. Once selected by the applicant (student), the person responsible at the University of Seville (the Master's Coordinator in this case) makes the assignment of the offer to the applicant.
  2. In a master's program like this one, the physical location of the students can be very varied, and it is likely that there are no offers in locations suitable for the student, or that the existing ones are not of interest to the student for any other reason. In this case, the student can locate a company or research center in lines related to the Master in the location of interest to the student, propose an internship offer to the Master's Coordination by mutual agreement, and eventually the signing of the collaboration agreement, if one does not exist. It is interesting to note that in those cases where the student promotes an agreement between the entity and the University of Seville, the assignment of the first offered placement is allowed. Once reviewed, it would be necessary to proceed formally with the offer and assignment just as in the previous point.
  3. The Master's Coordinators have a list of companies and research centers that have expressed the possibility of making an internship offer, depending especially on the possible dates. At the student's request, the student can be put in contact with the desired company or research center, and in case there is a mutual agreement regarding content, dates, etc., proceed as in the previous point.

At the end of the internship, both the student and the entity must write their respective reports. With these reports, the university tutor assigns the final grade.

In the event that a student, once enrolled in the subject, does not find an Internship offer in Companies or Research Centers that is of interest, they may use the enrollment extension period to replace said subject with another optional subject of the degree.

Validation through Work Experience

Students are reminded that they can request the recognition of credits for professional activity, without having to be previously enrolled in the Internship subject. According to current regulations, up to a maximum of 6 ECTS per year of work or professional experience can be recognized, establishing the procedure to properly accredit said experience (Article 19.2).

If you work or have worked in a company in the Microelectronics sector, it may be of great interest to request this recognition to validate the subject.
